Brendan Dempsey
Your children may recognize him as Sean ‘DAD’ Fury from the BAFTA award winning* comedy-drama 'The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury'.
Your Grand/parents would remember him from the cult hit comedy 'Waking Ned' (Devine – US, AUS).
You yourself might have seen him in 'About Adam', briefly in 'Gangs of New York', or possibly one Christmas over the years in the Father Ted Christmas special.
Last seen lurking menacingly in the comedy crime caper film Perrier’s Bounty, Brendan made a rare appearance as himself in Ireland as a panelist on 'That’s All We Have Time For' – and last year as Councillor Des Clinch in Ardal O’ Hanlon’s new sitcom 'Val Falvey T.D.'
Most recently he worked on the film adaptation of 'Round Ireland with a Fridge'.
One of a handful of acts invited to perform at the prestigious Just For Laughs in Montreal, Brendan’s festivalled Edinburgh, Melbourne, Adelaide, Kansas, Finland and The Cat Laughs in Kilkenny.
He’s played throughout Europe, across America, in Botswana & South Africa, and was the first comedian to perform in Qingdao, China.
His stand up has been seen on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, & RTE (The Basement, The Lounge, Just for Laughs), and the last two series of The Comedy Store on Comedy Central.
A member of the Dublin Comedy Improv for 10 years with whom he devised and performed in two radio series for RTE, Brendan is a co-founder of The London Comedy Improv and has been invited to guest with The Comedy Store players.
He continues to gig all over the UK, in the far and middle east, and a variety of venues from the Italian Alps, to Llyss Meddyg in Pembrokeshire, entertaining as many as 2,500 at the Lyceum Theatre in London for Bill Bailey’s SOS Charity benefit, and as few as 32 in Bingley, Yorkshire.
Brendan starred with Christan Slater in both record breaking West End Runs of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
He is currently developing a comedy drama for television, and working on a sitcom & film scripts.
Awarded a REMI for his directorial debut Barking Mad at the Houston Worldfest, Brendan worked as a writer/performer on seven different radio series for RTE.
